We take a 3-Step Approach: THINK, DO, LEARN. You choose where to start and which steps you require – we tailor our approach to suit your needs.

THINK

In the ‘Think’ phase, it’s important to listen. We talk to key stakeholders and gather as much information as possible.

This phase is about establishing a FRAMEWORK AND PRIORITIES:

  • ASSESS to create a view of innovation readiness
  • ALIGN and discuss with stakeholders to gauge innovation intent and approach
  • PRIORITISE and define innovation opportunities and capability requirements
  • PLAN and develop priorities, roadmaps and reporting opportunities

How we engage with you?

Design Executive in Residence: We provide a highly skilled Design Principal who immerses him/herself in your business and helps identify and address key challenges around building and executing innovation strategy. A sounding board; offers regular counsel on innovation issues. Works closely with leaders; helps establish teams, collaboration spaces and new ways of working.

What’s in it for you?

You get participants to know what ‘customer-centric’ actually means and have a shared understanding of the gaps and opportunities for innovation. Leaders are now aligned on innovation initiatives. You’ve established priorities for how to implement innovation and have a clear set of Design Principles your core team can apply.

DO

In the ‘Do’ phase, we employ a proven, repeatable methodology to deliver innovations that drive growth.

We take a human-centred design approach. This means we find out what matters to the people who matter to you. This understanding leads to powerful change. Our solutions are compelling and successful because they resonate with the people who need and use them.

How we engage with you?

Design Project Team: We engage our design team to determine the project scope and drive it from start to finish. Comprising WAVE Design consultants and members of your team. Includes a Design Lead (owns the creative vison), Designers (generate and document insights, ideas and opportunities), a Business Lead (responsible for ensuring the Team delivers on its obligations) and Subject Matter Experts (provide information and expertise in specialised areas, help verify final product).

What’s in it for you?

You get a fit-for-purpose framework unique to your organisation. Participants understand the role of human-centred design in delivering everyday work. They are equipped with common language, methods and tools that enable them to collaborate easily. They have built competencies in customer empathy, concept design, prototyping, experimentation, feasibility assessments and go-to-market processes. You experience true team collaboration in a dedicated physical space and a shift in mindset that is unique to your organisation.

LEARN

In the ‘Learn’ phase, the focus is EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING – learning by doing. This phase helps bring about a change in mindset around innovation and the customer experience. We provide tools and methods for immediate practice. We establish a core innovation team (and extended teams) and build physical spaces to collaborate. By practicing collaborative ways of delivering work, new ways of working are established.

Experiential Learning delivers the best results when we involve senior leaders and all relevant employees through a collaborative 2-day workshop. People learn and practice a range of human-centred design methods and tools they can apply to their everyday work over 90 days.

How we engage with you?

Design Instructors: Our Senior Designers lead the Experiential Learning phase; help workshop participants gain a deeper understanding of human-centred design methods and tools. Guide participants in interviewing, generating ideas and concepts, developing and testing prototypes. Manage monthly check-ins in 90 Day Human-Centred Design Program following workshops.

What’s in it for you?

You get a clear alignment of the business problem and a deep understanding of priorities, challenges, competitors, the market and the scope of the project. You have customer insights that you have refined and synthesised into key opportunity areas. The insights have generated a portfolio of concepts and prototypes that have been tested and re-tested, enabling you to launch minimum viable products MVPs that you can test and scale.
