What we are looking for.

So we’re seeking a qualified Business Development director to extend our reach through expert discovery and exploration of new and untapped business opportunities and relationships. Our ideal candidate will be trusted to dive right in, take the lead, use initiative, and help shape solutions that make everyday activities easier for customers, leaders and people. Highly skilled at sales and business development, this person will join and inspire a team of like-minded go-getters to achieve our company vision.

Responsibilities and duties 

  • Develop and implement overarching outbound sales and business development strategy, sales processes, structure, and best practices across the company

  • Manage proposal response process, including detailed RFP requirements, content creation, and inputs from various sources

  • Generate new leads, identify and contact decision-makers, screen potential business opportunities, select deals in line with strategies, and facilitate pitch logistics

  • Support deal structure and pricing with business-value analysis, and negotiate prices for proactive bids and proposals

  • Ensure sales and marketing goals are met and aligned with the strategic objectives set.

  • Research potential target industries and clients to promote the business and generate new business.

  • Ensuring the business reputation is well maintained and aligned with the competitive position in the market.

  • Introduce performance management capability, e.g., KPIs, both financial and service levels.

  • Maintain and share professional knowledge through education, networking, events, and presentations

Objectives of this role

  • Manage both our existing sales pipeline and the development of new business opportunities

  • Take a lead role in developing new business proposals and presentations that create and nurture opportunities and partnerships.

  • Identify trends and customer needs, building a sales pipeline for the short/medium/long term following targets.

  • Develop strategies and positions by analysing new-venture integration

  • Assist in the coordination and implementation of marketing strategies and delegate tasks to achieve strategic goals

  • Motivate the team, track performance, and report metrics

Your track record. 

We would appreciate it if we could get more evidence about the following required experience:

  • Five years of proven track record in business sales in a design, innovation or marketing/communications agency (working across the enterprise, government and B2B programs)

  • You can walk the talk – you feel confident engaging and influencing senior stakeholders, including C suite levels

  • You work collaboratively with an open mind and heart. You are curious and self-aware

  • Excellent organisational skills, with emphasis on priorities and goal setting

  • Superior presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Subject matter expertise is required to understand and propose solutions by focusing on client requirements

  • Ability to communicate information to staff members and customers in a clear and concise manner

  • Experience in managing relationships of medium to large companies and government agencies

  • Knowledge of service design, customer experience and/or innovation market trends

  • Impeccable communication, negotiation and presentation skills

  • Influencing and storytelling

  • Coaching and empowering individuals in your teams to deliver for clients

Remuneration. 

WAVE has a very stimulative reward & recognition policy. The remuneration is flexible and designed for this particular role with the base salary and unlimited commission structure. The proportion of these elements is negotiable.
